It didn’t feel right doing a Weekly Inspiration post yesterday, so today will have to do! I hope everyone had a good Fourth of July- mine was spent trapped in the house all morning due to random Houston flooding & then catching up on some shows, movies, etc in the evening. All in all, a perfect, casual day off! I’ve been so busy lately that the one day I had off I actually didn’t want to do anything at all. This week I was really focused on getting things off of my to-do list and I successfully accomplished them all. I was able to prioritize the things I really needed to get done first & all of the other things I decided could be done at a later time, just so I wouldn’t wear myself out. I love pondering on words randomly and I didn’t even realize that over the last couple weeks, I had been saying that word a lot lately.
The definition of prioritize is simple: to determine the order for dealing with (a series of items or tasks) according to their relative importance. But, it is often (for many, myself included) hard to do. How many times have you caught yourself prioritizing things that aren’t really a priority? Or, how many times have you prioritized something that you later can admit to yourself was not really that important at all?! I have been known to do this a few times (more than none) & have recently allowed myself not to.

With all of the busyness that we all deal with, prioritizing can seem like a daunting task at times, especially when there is a lot to be done. Nevertheless, if you are anything like me & must be organized at all times, I promise it will help you in the long run! Below are the three questions I ask myself when I am trying to prioritize something:
How does this task benefit me or others?
How does this task benefit me or others in the future? Or will I even care in a month?
Is this task something I can fully commit to right now 100%, giving it my full effort, time and attention?
So yes, those questions above might be a bit dramatic- but they have helped me sooo many times! With the year at its half mark, I recently took out my goal list to make sure I was still on track. When doing so, I also was able to take some Not-So-Important things off the top of the list (thankfully). Always having such a packed schedule, it’s very easy to over complicate things and wear yourself out. Prioritizing has helped me to do less of them and take some extra time for those things I really love, and I hope it can help someone else too. Always be sure to ask yourself- what are you making important in your life, and in 5 years- will it even matter at all?! I promise, you will thank yourself later!
Until Next Time!

Couldn’t agree more. I like having a list and ticking things off with the most important on top. Great read =)

Agree. I just started a new job and combining it with blogging is making my schedule super packed! I really need to be clear about my priorities now. It’s always important to get a reminder from time to time 🙂
It’s always hard when you start a new job to get back on track!
You’re so gorgeous! I definitely need to get my stuff together and prioritize what’s important to me. I have the tendency to waste time on trivial things lol
Awh me too, for sure. I think most of us do!
XOXO,

I need to ask myself this question more often. I tend to over commit and over plan things. Thanks for sharing !
Me too! I’m bad about that, haha!
XOXO,

I really appreciate the three questions that you ask when really honing in on prioritizing. I think they’ll really help me narrow down what I need to accomplish
I’m glad they helped!
XOXO,

This is always a good reminder! Sometimes the not-so-important things takeover our day, so it’s good to take that time to re-prioritize!
Yes! I totally agree!
