Happy Wednesday! This weeks weekly inspiration comes from Colossians 4:6-
“Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you know know how to answer everyone.”
Mmm I love this verse so much! I have always loved the word grace- just that word alone has always carried so much weight to me. When I think of grace, I think of a few things. For one, I am just reminded of just pure non-judgement. I think about how grace is something that is given so freely to all of us, even if we feel we are not deserving or inadequate. Grace reminds us that none of us are perfect (in any way), and that we all need to be forgiven sometimes. Colossians 4:6 says to “Let your conversation always be full of grace”. Whew- I can think of some conversations that were the farthest thing from “grace”, ha! I mean, I know I’m not the only one who has gotten mad at a family member, friend, coworker etc. and expressed this feeling in a conversation. And I can promise that I’m not the only one who hasn’t shown grace all the time in uncomfortable situations. This verse reminds us that every conversation should have a tad bit of grace, even if you think that the person is not deserving. Besides, at the end of the day- are any of us really “deserving”?
This verse also says to make sure our words are “seasoned with salt”. When I think of this, another word comes to mind: Wisdom. Hearing this term reminded me even further to not be judgmental, but try to just be an open ear to a friend in need. Being “seasoned with salt” can sometimes mean not only listening, but offering advice that you have not from a textbook, or a self-help book, but from true experience alone. Sometimes, we are placed in situations that allow us to encourage others, simply because of the life experiences that we have had.
This week, my challenge for you is simple: show grace. Try to show grace in every conversation you have- good or bad, long or short. Instead of passing judgement, maybe just offer a shoulder to lean on & some wisdom backed up with experiences instead.
Until Next Time!
