With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, I figured it was the perfect time to share some craft ideas for little ones! Did you know Valentine’s Day is one of the most celebrated holidays in the country? Between all of the gift giving, mommy & me matching outfits, flower exchanging and dinner dates, no wonder that doing crafts can easily be a part of your “love day” celebrating, no matter your age! In this blog post, I will be sharing a round-up of creative and fun craft ideas that you can easily do with your little on on Valentine’s Day.

No matter your age, Valentines day crafts are a fun activity that anyone can do! Some great craft ideas for adults that easily come to mind are handmade cards for loved ones, a painted plate for a close girlfriend or mom/grandma/mother-in-law, and even a curated baskets of favorites for a spouse.

Crafts for little hands are so much fun! Some easy ones that come to mind include paper crafts, painting things like a coffee cup or small pot for flowers, and creating art using your little ones handprint. Super cute and adorable, this craft is something fun to hang on the fridge! A little messy, this craft really allows for your little to use their imagination as they create something that they love.

Materials: construction paper, plastic fork, google eyes, paint, black market

Step 1: using paint & the plastic fork, let your little “paint” a messy monster on the paper

Step 2: using the google eyes and a black marker, create a “monster” on the paper

Valentines Day Dot Marker Activity Sheets

Not necessary a “craft” but still a lot of fun, dot marker activity sheets are great and mess free to work on fine motor skills with your little! With so many ways to use dot marker sheets, they provide easy activitirs that anyone can do! step 1: using dot markers, dot stickers or even paint, let your little fill in the white dots on the pages

Finger Print Love Bugs

Painting a pot is always such a cute toddler craft idea that makes a great gift too! This idea is very easy and semi-mess free, but still allows your little to get their hands a little dirty! Small pots are great gifts for close friends and family members and this craft is also very easy to do.

Materials: a small flower pot, fingerprint, fine tip makers

Step 1: using the finger paint, have your little one put their fingerprint all over a small pot

Step 2: Using a fine tip marker, create little “bugs” out of the fingertips by drawing little legs and eyes

Most of my favorite crafts include making things that I can frame to keep forever. The below craft is very simple, but make a piece of artwork that can be kept or given away. A little messy and a lot of fun, some pipe cleaners and paint are all you need to have craft time for this idea with your little.

Materials: pipe cleaner, construction paper, paint

Step 1: using pipe cleaner, create the shape of a heart

Step 2: let your little dip the “heart” into paint using it as a stamp to paint on the construction paper

Tissue paper heart

I always keep tissue paper on hand since it is such an easy item to do so many crafts with! Tissue paper can be used for so many things: paper mache, sensory bins, and in this case- an adorable heart craft with minimal mess and prep time!

Materials: tissue paper, marker, construction paper

Step 1: draw a heart on any kind of paper

step 2: using small pieces of tissue paper, let your little “fill in the heart” creating a colorful picture as they go!

Handprint Flower bouquet

Materials: different colored construction paper or scrapbook paper, glue, markers or paint sticks

Step 1: Trace your little ones hand on all different colored construction paper, or have them use paint to “stamp” their hand on a piece of paper

Step 2: Cut hand prints out and glue onto another piece of construction paper. Using markers, or paint stiicks, finish the “bouquet” of hands, drawing stems, etc.

Pom Pom Heart Doily Print

Painting over a heart shaped doily is a fun way to paint with an almost guaranteed cute picture! Most dollar stores have all the materials needed for this activity, so it is minimal prep and also very easy to do.

Materials: Pom poms, paint, construction paper, doily

Step 1: Using a pom pom, dab the pom pom in paint and paint the doily, transferring the pattern onto the construction paper

Foam Heart Pizza

Making a valentines day craft pizza is not only adorable, but also a great valentines craft to give away too!

Materials: foam hearts or construction paper (red and pink), yellow tissue paper, heart stickers

Step 1: Using a red heart, cut a small heart out. Glue this heart onto the larger pink heart. This will act as the “pizza sauce”

Step 2: Cut small pieces of the yellow tissue paper and glue them onto the pink heart.

Step 3: Using heart stickers, stick red hearts to the “heart pizza”

Using paint, fine tip markers and whatever else you can find- create a card for your loved one! Much better than a store bought card, this will be one that can become a memory that can be kept for years to come.

Create a Valentines day plate by painting one using valentines day colors such as red and pink! You can make these extra feminine by painting love icons such as hearts and bows on the border.
