Thanksgiving Day Outfits

Thanksgiving is almost here! I love this holiday for so many reasons, not only do you get to spend time with close friends and family, but thanksgiving food is some of my favorite. Between the Mac and cheese and my husbands famous seafood gumbo, I really do look forward to this holiday! Not only that, but I also love Thanksgiving as it truly sets aside an entire day to reflect back on the previous years events and be grateful. As cliche as it sounds, I always find myself more thankful each year for all of life’s little blessings.

Thanksgiving Day Outfits

With so many Thanksgiving events (Friendsgiving, family dinner, etc.), I often have found myself digging through my closet trying to figure out what to wear. This time of year allows some of my favorite outfits- comfortable layers, cozy neutrals and of course boots. Whether you are a cozy Thanksgiving dresses or get all dressed up that day, sharing some Thanksgiving outfit ideas below to help make sure you have a perfect Thanskgiving. A simple dress and boots

A great Thanksgiving day outfit option is something that is chic, but also very comfy. A knit dress over some boots always fits the bill for this & looks very put together too! For this outfit, it’s easy to stick with all neutrals of any color palette, browns , grays or even black!

For shoes, knee high boots are a great option! One rule I always keep in mind when wearing long sweater dresses is to make sure that the sweater dress is long enough so that the top of the boot don’t show when you have it on. A silly rule, I know but I have done this for years and it has always worked for me!

Leggings & a sweater

Leggings & a sweater can always be a go-to for anyone looking for a comfortable outfit to lounge in all day! During colder months, I always love wearing my Spanx leggings over a sweater and any shoes. I also add most time my Mango coatigan to the outfit to feel more put together but also add an extra layer! The Mango coatigan is a true staple in my closet, especially during the early winter season. If you want to be a little more “fancy”, you can also opt for a faux fur jacket for your second layer.

Jeans & an elevated shirt

If there is one thing I love wearing, it’s a good pair of denim! Wearing denim for Thanksgiving Dinner is not only a great mix of casual and chic, but also can be easy to dress up or down. A favorite outfit of mine is always a pair of wide leg denim with a top with some booties or heels. For Thanksgiving, wearing a pair of wide leg denim with a simple sweater is an outfit that can work all day without feeling too overdressed.

Another way to wear denim on Thanksgiving day is to pair it with a more elevated top, such as a satin button down. A satin button down is great because it’s a little more fancy than a regular button down a t-shirt, but more comfortable since they are typically soft. Since this outfit is a little more casual, you can get away with wearing flat shoes to complete the look! For a fun pop of color, wear colored flats, such as maroon ones, to make you outfit a little more “fun”. And if you want to be even more elevated- pair a chic blazer with denim! Depending on where you live at, it might be a little hot so you could wear a sleeveless shirt or sweater under the blazer if it’s hot outside or a long sleeve sweater if it’s cold. Want to be casual? Pair the blazer with a simple t shirt!

Black Leather pants & a top

Black Leather pants are a fun closet staple because they can be worn so many ways! I like to wear these with sneakers to keep the outfit more casual, but they can really be dressed up with heels. If you are going to a Thanksgiving dinner that is at night or later in the evening, leather pants are a great option since they are a little more “formal” that leggings or jeans. For a chic outfit, wear them with a turtleneck or even a long sleeve shirt, tucked in. You also could wear a flow shirt in a pretty material, like satin. Going to a very fancy Thanksgiving dinner? Make the outfit all black by pairing the black leather pants with a bodysuit and some black suede booties.

A comfy set

If you are just staying in for Thanksgiving or just seeing close friends & family, then sometimes there is no reason to get dressed up anyways! Wearing sweat pants doesn’t have to feel like no effort was taken & it is possible to still look put together while wearing a sweatsuit. Choose a neutral sweat set that you can accessorize with simple items, like neutral sneakers and gold jewelry. That way- you can be comfortable but still look cute in Thanskgiving day photos!
