Soo…We’re Expecting!

If you follow me on social media all over then you know that we announced a while ago that we were expecting! Now that I am well into my second trimester (I’m almost 7 months), then you know that I am finally feeling back to 100% myself again! With the awful amount of morning sickness that I had in my first trimeter I didn’t do much and barely left the house. The beginning of my second trimester was spent getting back to a semi-normal schedule (thank you to my husband for picking up the house cleaning schedule & random things when I wasn’t feeling well!) and now I am back on track to sharing all the things I love on my little slither of the internet via the blog! Lets start from the beginning…

How We found Out

Finding out I was pregnant wasn’t anything out of the ordinary, I just had a gut feeling and knew immediately. I went to brunch with a friend and stopped at Walgreens on the way home to get a pregnancy test because I knew I was pregnant. I just knew, I had no signs or anything. Of course I was late that month but that’s always been normal for me..so again nothing was out of the ordinary.

As soon as I found out I quickly made a plan to tell Ryan. I always take time to go to Target on Sundays and most times then not I pick up a little “gift” for Ryan, whether its ice cream or a t shirt, it’s typically something small. This Sunday in particular I picked up some onsies, a card and put them in a gift bag with the three (I actually took 6, ha!) positive pregnancy tests and gave them to Ry. It took him a little bit to figure it out (he originally thought it was sweaters for the dog) but as soon as he realized I was pregnant he was so excited!

We told my parents the next day or so, and then waited until 12 weeks to tell the rest of family and announced on social media a little after 15 weeks. Considering how awful I felt the first 12 weeks, I didn’t want anything to know and truly didn’t have the energy to share the news in the way that I wanted to. Once I felt better, I got excited all over again that we would be having our first around our 1 year anniversary!

Soo..there is is..no planning or nothing…it just sort of happened!

It’s a…

I also KNEW what the gender was before we actually found out. Similar to how I knew I was pregnant…I just had a gut feeling. During my first trimester when I was really sick I knew it was a girl because I figured a boy wouldn’t make feel so bad according to all the stuff I had read online and heard from friends, etc. We did a blood test so we found out it was a girl around 9ish weeks, BUT I wanted to wait to announce until we had our ultrasound so we didn’t announce it was a girl util I think I was about 4 months pregnant.

Once we did the blood test though, we did a super small family zoom to tell our immediate family! One thing that was really important to Ry & I both was that we kept our pregnancy special which meant not sharing details, special moments with other (including family) until we were ready to. We had a lot of fun with just the two of us knowing before other people knew. Our families were completely split in regards to what they thought it was..literally 50% thought boy, 50% thought girl. When we said girl everyone was so happy..Ryan included! When we first got the blood test, Ryan has already ran to amazon and got “girl dad” and “daddys girl” onsies and t shirts and he proudly showed them off!

Currently, we are decorating the nursery & I’m going crazy buying clothes. We already have her name picked out (it’s a secret until she’s born) and are finalizing our registry this week too. I can’t wait to share more of this journey with ya’ll!

XO,

B
