Although we don’t really celebrate Valentines day in our house, I pass up no opportunity to match with my little. Matching with my little is always so much fun- I love taking picture with her in our matching outfits and always have so much fun looking back on all of our mini photoshoots. Although I love matching, I like coordinating outfits from my closet even more since I am not only wearing something that we already have, but also making new outfits which is something that I love doing.

There are a few ways to match with your mini this valentines day. Matching dresses are always the easiest to do, but you can also coordinate by matching colors and patterns. Matching this way is so easy and I am sure you already have things in your closet to do so! If you do decide to not buy a matching outfit this year and want to use something you already have in your closet to coordinate your little, remember that starting with some closet staples and basics (jeans, black pants) are great to build off of easily by adding festive pops, such as red and clothing items that have hearts on them!
Mother Daughter Matching Outfits for Valentines Day
Jeans with a sweater or top
The easiest way to match with items you probably already have in your closet is to wear a pair of jeans with your mini and coordinate the top. Many stores have heart themed and red sweaters this time of year, so they are very easy to find. This outfit is casual and can easily be paired with a crossbody and sneakers, or can be dressed up with heels for you, or booties if where you live is still a little cold!
Mommy & Me matching dresses
Matching dresses are always an easy way to match and always look so cute too! There’s nothing cuter than seeing a mini dressed just like her mama, especially in some sparkly dresses like shown below. These would be great to wear to a fancy event, like a mothers day brunch or a fun lunch date. I almost like coordinating outfits more than 100% completely matching, just because they are so much more versatile! A coordinating option for this Valentines Day can be as simple as a red dress for mama, and a cute heart printed one for your mini. This is especially a great option if you don’t want to buy too many new things just to match for one day- as for the heart dress you could even put in your littles valentines day basket! Accessories for this outfit can be simple. For even more pops of red, give your little some red hair accessories, like a headband or scrunchie.
Mommy & Me Matching Valentines sweaters
Matching sweaters are so cute for this holiday as well as time of year! Most retailers have Valentines day options that can be worn many ways, both sweaters and cardigans. Some of my favorite retailers to get matching sweaters from include Old Navy, Target and Gap. If you don’t want ton get 100% matching sweaters, you can always get coordinating sweaters in the same color for a casual outfit, or pair them both with some leather pants for an outfit that is a little more dressed up! This outfit can be completed with some white sneakers for both you and your little.
Pops of red
Pops of red for Valentines day are not uncommon and perfect for the occasion! Choose a simple outfit like a red blazer with some jeans, and then get your mini a red dress for a cute, casual coordinated Valentines day outfit. To accessorize the blazer, you could easily dress it up by wearing heels or dress it down by wearing some cute sneakers and a crossbody. Another cute idea would be to pair this outfit with matching red sneakers with your little.
Another way to coordinate pops of color is by wearing a deeper color of red paired with a great pair of jeans. For your mini’s outfit, you could do a cute red accessory like this adorable heart shaped bag I found online! Dress your little one so adorable in a heart shaped jumper! This outfit is easy to match by simply wearing red and white. Possibly my favorite outfit, this chic combination of black and white stripes with pops of red is great for any occasion! A little dressed up, this outfit is a great outfit to take photos in with your mini, or to go on a dinner date. Matching outfits like this can be found at Gap around this time of year, but you could also recreate something like this from your own closet with separate pieces!
Pops of Pink
If you have a girly-girl mini like me, then I know you already have some pink in both of your closets! Using pink, you could coordinate an outfit with black and neutral for an “on theme” outfit for the day.
