I have said it before & I will say it again…I love being comfortable! It takes me days to break in a new pair of shoes, and I live in leggings at home. So of course, the “athleisure” trend was something that I fell in love with very quickly. I have never stepped out of the house in a pair of sweatpants, so this trend at first was a bit new to me . I normally always have at least a few accessories on & change my purse on a daily basis- so this look at first was completely out of my comfort zone. Key word- at first (HA!). I now can say not only do I live in leggings, but as of now you can probably catch me at least once or twice wearing sports pieces casually! A year or two ago, I would’ve never been caught wearing sneakers. Now, I proudly own a few pair in my closet.

This new “athleisure” trend I think came about for two reasons. For one, fashion is always re-inventing itself and new looks are always emerging. Basically what I’m saying is- everything always back in style (as seen with flares). Athletic pieces were incorporated into fashion in the 90s. Colorblocking was also a trend that was within this era that re-emerged towards the end of 2014. Trends always come back and when they do, they come back in a large way. Sportswear has become a main part of many retailers assortments, from shoes to bombers, which are also popular for this upcoming fall.

Secondly, I truly believe that sportswear pieces are so popular now due to comfort. People are very busy nowadays, with society and technology evolving constantly, everyone is always moving through life at a fast pace. The athleisure trend allows “down days” to be fashionable. With designers making sports pieces, it is now acceptable and even seen as “trendy” to rock a sweatshirt, a top knot, and call it a day! I for one am def a fan of this. I like down days, and think that everyone deserves a day to be as comfortable as can be. I have a few favorite stores I like to get my sportswear, Six 02 & TopShop being two of them! I’ve rounded up some of my current favs a few stores below:
Needless to say, I am a fan of this trend & I pray it sticks around…forever!
Until Next Time!
